Saying “Good Morning”

It’s June, 2024.  Jim and I, along with Bud and Miss Mouse, set up camp at one of our favorite sites, in the state of Wisconsin.

We weren’t heavy into searching for Sasquatch, we were more into just relaxing and enjoying what nature had for us.  Of course we did put recorders out at night just to hear what night critters were around us.

We did record some “odd” sounds but I’ll write more on that later.  This post is about something else.  Something that touched my heart and made my whole insides smile.

I slept well there, so quiet. This one morning, I think it was our fourth day there, I got up around 5:00/5:30 a.m. I made coffee, then sat down and enjoyed a cup while listening to the birds chirping, announcing a new day.

I decided to go outside and retrieve the recorder because the sky looked like it wanted to rain. I was on my way back to the rv with it (I had turned it off), was reaching for the door handle, when I froze. Off to my left, from the woods, came a very gentle sounding “Whoooop”. It wasn’t loud or deep, neither was it hard to hear. It was normal. It was also like I couldn’t hear the birds singing anymore and all I heard was the whoop. It wasn’t frightening, very tender sounding, and I knew instantly what it was. I turned my head to where I heard it, paused, smiled, and said “Good Morning”! I then proceeded to go into the rv. I really can’t explain how that little exchange made me feel. Like I stated before, the best I can say is that my whole body and insides were just a’smiling! l felt sooo good!

Now I know there will be naysayers saying that it was just a bird or some other critter. NO! Emphatically NO! In my heart, and in my brain, I know who it was. For those who believe me, you know who it was too.

I will ALWAYS remember that morning, that moment. The moment that they chose to say “Good Morning”.
